2-Day Police Patrol Vehicle Proximity Tactics Course (PPT – 3)

This 2-day course is basically the 4-day complete program course cut in half. It is suitable for officers that want to focus only on vehicle proximity tactics due time or budget limitations or as a skill refresher.

EQUIPMENT:

  • Civilian/work clothing similar to what is used during working patrol.
  • Tactical gear used during working patrol (armor/plate carrier, duty belt, gloves, handcuffs, flashlight, …)
  • Notebook and a pen

All the modules incomporate Force on Paper, Force on Actors and Force on Force exercises, micro drills and complex scenarios to build and test skills under progressive and diverse stress exposure conditions.

1. Complex environment tactics module

1.1 Police patrol tactics theory

  • Complex environment and human behaviour based tactics

1.2 Individual skills

  • Safety rules
  • Weapon handling and movement techniques
  • Handheld techniques and weapon manipulation
  • Low light aplications and principles

1.3 Working around others

  • Earning the shot
  • Working in pairs
  • Working with multiple officers

1.4 Dealing with threats in open public complex environment

  • Basics of human behaviour based tactics and stress management
  • Dealing with non cooperative armed subjects in open public environment
  • Active threat/amok response in open public environment
  • Hostage situation response in open public environment

2. Vehicle proximity tactics module

2.1 Solo vehicle proximity tactics

  • Vehicle balistics basics and points of cover
  • Alternating shooting positions
  • Fighting around the vehicle techniques
  • Fighting from a vehicle and bail out

2.2 Two-man vehicle proximity tactics

  • Two-man fighting around the vehicle techniques
  • Two-man fighting from a vehicle and bail out

2.3 High risk vehicle stops

  • Solo high risk vehicle stop
  • Two-man high risk vehicle stop
  • Miltiple patrols high risk vehicle stop
